Meet ZENFULdog Training’s wonderfully energetic dog of the month for December 2025: Lark! This tri-coloured beagle–poodle cross with a soft, poodle-style coat is stealing hearts and sprinting past expectations with her ZENFULdog family and devoted pet-mom, Lindsey.

Age: 1 and a half
Meet Lark’s Family
(Lindsey—Lark’s pet-mom): Lark is Lindsey’s dedicated athletic partner: “I love doing dog sports, and she’s the perfect teammate—smart, energetic, and always willing to try something new.”

(Leighton—Lark’s pet-dad): Lark is a reliable barn companion to Leighton, happily tagging along during chores and enjoying exploring the farm by his side.
(Raven—Lark’s human-sibling): Lark is a fun, high-energy playmate to Raven, always ready for a game of fetch or indoor playtime.
(Atticus and Arlyn—Lark’s human-siblings): For Atticus and Arlyn, Lark is an entertaining and curious friend who joins in on hide-and-seek and enjoys simply being part of their adventures.
(Lark’s animal family): Lark loves playing chase with her dog sister, Caz, always insisting on being the one who gets chased. Her closest buddy is her wrestling and play partner, Okwaho the kitten.

Living on a farm with sheep, goats, chickens, and ducks, Lark has learned to coexist calmly with all the animals around her.

Lark's Personality According to Lindsey: Lark is bold, energetic, smart, and very opinionated. She knows exactly what she wants, and she’s not afraid to make it known. She’s curious, driven, and thrives on activity and exploration.
While she is brimming with teenage energy and attitude, Lark’s overall demeanour is confident, alert, and always ready for action. She’s small, extremely athletic, and unbelievably fast—no dog can keep up with her.

Lindsey Shares The Most Unique Thing about Lark: Lark is uniquely particular—she has strong preferences, knows exactly what she likes and dislikes, and communicates those opinions very clearly. Combined with her speed and intelligence, she is wonderfully one of a kind.
Lark's favourite Treats/Foods according to Lindsey: Lark’s favourite treat is cheese, and she loves eating raw food. She’s very motivated by flavourful, high-value treats—perfect for training and sports.
Lindsey Lists Lark’s Favourite Activities: Lark’s favourite activity of all is sniffing—especially long scent-driven walks in the bush where she can track wild turkeys. She also loves:
Running at full speed
Playing chase (as the one who can’t be caught)
Exploring the farm
Wrestling with Okwaho the kitten, and
Learning new dog sports

Lindsey Explains How Lark Unwinds After a Full Day of Activity: After a full day of activity and sniffing, Lark unwinds by settling in front of the fireplace with her favourite blanket or a trusted chew toy.

If Lark had a human voice: Lindsey believes Lark would sound like the beloved actor, Kristen Bell—lively, expressive, upbeat, and full of character.
Lark’s Training
Lark has been training with ZENFULdog Training since she was just 10 weeks old. She has grown up through their programs and continues to learn and thrive with them.

Lark has taken part in an impressive variety of ZENFULdog classes, including:
Puppy classes
Level 1 and Level 2 Obedience
Parkour classes, all the way through to Advanced
Rally-O classes
Trick classes, where she earned her Novice Trick Titles
Canicross programs
She’s always eager for new challenges and loves exploring different types of dog sports.

Lindsey Tells Us How Training Has Shaped Lark: Training with Kendra and Kether has played a huge role in shaping who Lark is today. Their guidance has helped her develop confidence, athleticism, and emotional resilience: “Through their positive approach, we’ve built a strong bond of trust that has helped us work through behavioural challenges and allowed her to feel more secure in new environments. Their classes have also opened the door to exciting new sports and activities that she genuinely loves.”

Lindsey Describes Lark’s Biggest Training Challenges/Successes: Lark is not an “easy” dog, and she has definitely encouraged Lindsey to elevate her training skills. Lark needs her coat kept short for her active farm lifestyle, so one major ongoing challenge has been her fear of grooming. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, however, she has made incredible progress—especially being able to be groomed by Lindsey: “She has also pushed me to trust her abilities, trust myself, and stay committed to helping her grow, even when things are difficult.”

One of Lark’s biggest accomplishments is her ability to tolerate, and even succeed with, grooming (as long as Lindsey does it). Her overall growth in confidence has also been a huge success. Lark is brilliant and quick to learn obedience and tricks, but her biggest achievements come from stepping into new experiences, trusting Lindsey, and building confidence in unfamiliar situations: “Seeing her choose to try, explore, and believe in herself has been incredibly rewarding.”
Lindsey adds that Lark has also become an excellent farm dog: “Through consistent positive reinforcement, she has learned to settle around all the farm animals, not chase and show respect to them, even the chickens!”

Lindsey recalls Lark’s Most Rewarding Moments of Training in Action: The most rewarding part of training Lark, Lindsey explains, has been discovering what truly lights her up—tracking: “She has a natural passion for scent work and absolutely loves training at home. Watching her follow scent trails, use her instincts, and excel in anything nose-related has been amazing. Helping her find and grow into her passion has been one of the best parts of our journey together.”

ZENFULdog Training's owner and trainer, Kendra, adds: “Lark and Lindsey are such a skilled team, and together they bring positive energy into every class they take—we absolutely love them! From the puppy program to parkour to canicross, Lark’s joy for learning shines thanks to Lindsey’s relationship-first, choice-driven approach.
Lark may be a smaller dog, but she has huge energy and big confidence—all nurtured through Lindsey’s thoughtful support. She started a little shy in puppy class around the bigger pups, and now she confidently runs alongside large dogs on the canicross trails and soars over big gap jumps in parkour. It’s such an incredible transformation to witness.
In our trick program, this pair always went above and beyond, mastering far more behaviours than required and passing every title evaluation with flying colours.
This is truly an unstoppable team!”
