ZENFULdog at Ruff Mudder 2023

BJmacwrites

ZENFULdog Training was proudly represented by 3 teams at the 2023 Ruff Mudder canine obstacle event over the June 24th weekend! Ruff Mudder is a fun, muddy adventure with 5.5 kilometres of over 90 obstacles for pet-parents and canines to go over, around and under together through fields, streams and forests in Stayner Ontario!

Kendra is so proud of these 3 amazing teams! The teams received feedback from the event organizer that they rocked the event and even set the example for others—not only in terms of great training (evidenced by trail etiquette, implementing rules for safety, behaviour and much more) but also in terms of how they cheered each other on and supported one another.

Eva with Lily and Kevin with Ivy enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie as they thrived at the Ruff Mudder event:

“Ruff Mudder was definitely a great time! Both humans and dogs had a fun weekend. Saturday morning found us at the start line with many other dogs and thanks to Kendra's training our pack was wonderfully behaved! We were welcomed warmly and complimented by the organizer who remembered us from last year. After a ZENFULdog-led wolf howl, we were off to tackle a 5 km loop with over 100 obstacles. A choice to add a 1 km distance was given which we chose to do. The course was challenging but definitely doable. Great teamwork and camaraderie were apparent as we scaled ‘round hay bales, headed over jumps, logs, tunnels, pools of water and many other interesting things to either go over, under or around. Parkour sessions were certainly an asset...dogs and humans knew what to do!

Of course, the highlight of the trail was the many river crossings which involved sliding down muddy river banks, through the water then scrambling up the other side (gracefully of course while being "helped" by the dogs) all the while the team was encouraging each other in between laughing at the next one who landed in the water. With the finish line in sight, we sprinted to the end (got to look good!) and any remaining mud was kindly sprayed off by the fire department.

The trail was well-marked and the event was well-organized. We will go again!”

Kathy with Jett also had a blast and felt proud showing off their training chops:

“Ruffmudder was amazing!!! Definitely more technical than last year! Our group stayed at the Craigleith Provincial Park, which was a ‘slight’ step up from our horse pasture accommodations of last year. The dogs all behaved beautifully, which is a testament to the time and training put into them and Kendra’s encouragement and guidance! Lots of dog/people bonding, walks, cooldowns at the beach and of course paddle boarding! Jett and I had a blast!! Maybe a week next year 🤔…”

Last but not least, Mike with Maverick and Francine with Matilda rocked the event with pride and smiles on their faces:

“We really enjoyed Ruff Mudder. The race and obstacles were a lot of fun but it was mostly the camaraderie between all the pet-parents that made our weekend memorable! Our dogs were amazing throughout the entire time…Huge kudos to Kendra for all the training! The puppies even allowed us to browse the kiosks after the race!

We also loved being part of the ZENFULdog group and spending time together at the campground! Great fun getting to know people better! Looking forward to the next doggie adventures!!! ”

Kendra is happy these ZENFULdog members got to revel in an experience where both human and dogs’ hard work training paid off and got to be shown off! She also admires their independence and the effort they went through traveling and camping on top of racing, to give their dogs this wonderful, fulfilling experience. Not only were their performances unparalleled, but they worked so well together that they even had a system in place for optimizing photo-taking at the event!

Well done guys! And don’t forget, you can follow ZENFULdog Training on Facebook to stay connected to your like-minded dog-loving community every day!
